12 October 2020When I talk about the house, I often refer to it as "a small business," and as such it has an important part dedicated to the management of the house itself but also of all the components that live in it.
Are you aware how many documents exist related to running a home and family?
1.What documents do you manage at home?
The list can be much broader, but just think of:
- Miscellaneous bills
- Condo payments
- Instruction booklets for various household appliances
- Insurance (home, car, health)
- Medical examinations for each household member
- For those working from home: bills et miscellaneous
- Passports
2.So you have a dedicated place to run your small business?
A corner of the house that should not be too spacious, but functional to hold documents and be able to sit down to engage in management. A space where folders can be placed to hold important papers that when needed need to be found quickly and without stress.
Too often I enter homes and find papers scattered everywhere, which can create problems when something important needs to be researched.
Look around and choose where to develop your dedicated area!
3.A label will save you...
Once you've chosen the types of folders you like best, consider that today you have a wide choice of colors and styles--they don't have to be boring and office-looking, but you can find them in all flavors and sizes. Because the important thing is that you like them, even handling the bureaucratic and more tedious part can become more enjoyable if we use items we love. The use of labels will make it easier not only for you to find what you are looking for but also for other family members, who even in your absence can search for what they need.
