How to manage documents?
12 October 2020I took the definition of 'house mapping' from the word "mapping," which in the dictionary is: The preparation and drawing of a map. This definition I have appropriated helps me to explain what I mean, viz. Doing the mapping of the house in relation to the objects you will have to distribute in it. The ability to know how to choose the right place for the right object.
I often enter homes where items are not stored in the most suitable or appropriate places. Often this can also give rise to the difficulty in finding something when looking for it.
The more appropriate the place where we would have stored that such an object, the easier it will be to find it again. So not only related to the concept of a "place for everything and everything in its place" but also the "right place for the right object."
I happened to find shoes under the sofa in the living room, an important contract in the drawer of a changing table, a Christmas tree in the coat closet or even 8 thermometers scattered around the house, because not having chosen a right place to keep the medicines, they were scattered everywhere, without having chosen a correct place.
But how do you choose the right place for that given object?
There are two criteria:
1. Reasoning about the logic and naturalness of where to place that given object, in the kitchen maybe I would avoid putting a shoe rack or medicines in the loft! But to be honest, there are people who already may have great difficulty on this aspect, because that first choice does not happen naturally. And here a Professional Organizer can help!
2. Also reason about how often and when that item should be reached. For example (as explained in one of my tutorials) Christmas decorations may be put in a loft or basement, having to get them only once a year, so they don't have to be on hand all year round!
While medicines, although they will not be used every day, must be easily reachable in case of need.
