The confusion, it was creating undue stress on me.
8 April 2020
In 2014 from a close-knit team of Professional Organizers, the idea was born to initiate a project that would bring a "new subject" related to the development of organizational skills into schools. Initially, it seemed natural for us to start with primary classes, and the project took the name "Educating for Organization, the organizational language learned from a young age," was just the beginning.
Like all good things, which come to life from a strong synergy among professionals, the succession of resolutions, events and meetings gave wide scope to our initial idea, we realized how much The project was the answer to the "burning needs" of so many figures related to the "educational world," who feel the lack of guidelines to help children, young people and adults to better organize themselves.
Over time, our focus has turned not only to primary classrooms, but also to secondary, as well as teachers, educators related to the world of play and sports, DSA tutors and parents, and recently we have also been approached by universities!
Today the project is named "Educating for Organization" to encapsulate all these realities so different from each other but linked by the same idea: thanks to personal organization, a valuable skill for living every moment of life with serenity and fullness, people can be better, more fulfilled and happier.
Experience always teaches, and the beauty of this wonderful adventure lies in the fact that each encounter is different from the other. Each path gives distinct emotions and human relationships; the exchange with teachers or parents is different from the one with primary school children or secondary and junior high school students.
With each event, the validity of the proposed content is confirmed and the enthusiasm and desire to grow our initiative is renewed.
I personally met with the students of the "Liceo ginnasio statale Tacito di Roma," first and fourth graders, respectively, about 14 and 17 years old, two worlds already different from each other. It was a new challenge and at the same time an exciting experience, at that age they do not discount, if they have concerns they express them directly, without half-measures, they demand prompt answers to their questions, they want to know the sources and make sure that the proposed content has solid foundations. The adolescent age, as delicate and rebellious as it is at the same time, can return a lot, finding in the kids interested looks, spontaneous smiles and the request to give continuity to the meetings filled me with great satisfaction, allowed me to recognize in myself a new passion by addressing this complex age group.
As Professional Organizers, we know how important the tone of our communication is to make sure that the message is best received. We need to be able to connect and empathize with those in front of us and speak a language that can be loved, understood and made our own.
As much as we believe that the "subject of organization" should be learned from an early age, to be assimilated effortlessly, we have embraced the challenge with the teenage years with equal enthusiasm. The lifestyle we lead puts us under strain: hectic pace, decline in concentration, inability to slow down, engulfed by the digital world that we don't know how to handle to the best of our ability, all to the detriment of study as well.
Teens need, as much as adults, tools and strategies to cope with daily life without stress, with greater satisfaction and a good level of productivity. Being more educated (in this on par with adults) changing bad habits may be more difficult, but those who recognize in our words an opportunity respond with curiosity and a desire to get involved.
At the end of each course, I wait with curiosity for their evaluations, for once it is the children who give the adult the grade: every promise must be kept! Numerous times I was moved, because working in schools is like working on our future, and kids are a future to be discovered!
