#APOIinternationalguest: meet Nacho Eguiarte from Mexico

Coping with a legacy, material and emotional
13 March 2023
I find myself very much in a statement by Steve Jobs: "You cannot join the dots by looking forward; you can only join them by looking backward."
The dots I've been lucky enough to connect are, a passion for children and young people, with whom I connect naturally and spontaneously, the pleasure of being a mom, and good organizational skills that brought me in 2015 to Organize Italywith my colleague Sabrina Toscani to create the "Educational Team," a group of female organization professionals ready to tackle the world of education in all its facets, which we know, are not few!
Our vision is to bring the "organization tool" inside schools and families to support, children, youth, teachers, tutors, parents and all those who rotate in educational realities. With this exceptional group we work as a team on valuable projects (some of which are supported by the Nando and Elsa Peretti Foundation) but at the same time we specialize on different targets, to strengthen the "EDU-organizing" message and be supportive to those who follow us.
To whom we address
The EDU team addresses:Emanuela Tirabassi > Lecturers
Germana Chiricò > Tutor
And I refer to my target audience, the Parents.
Each of us has designed online or side-by-side courses(https://organizzareitalia.com/organizzazione-per-la-scuola-e-gli-insegnanti/) for our target audience and has created a calendar of monthly appointments of free, closed-ended online Workshops, where we explore EDU-organization-related topics in depth and answer questions from attendees. (Meeting dates are regularly posted on our FB page https://www.facebook.com/OrganizzareItaliaeInstagram https://www.instagram.com/organizzare.italia/)
I stand by the parents because...
Never before has the family needed support, as the pace of life is extremely demanding, often quite difficult for parents who both work, having little time to devote to their children on a daily basis. The evolution of today's family and parenting role can also give rise to difficulties.
There are many aspects outside the family unit that challenge this structure made up of people, emotions, temperaments, habits, practices and roles that are often difficult to respect. We also know how each age presents different challenges, to which as parents, we must be ready to give the "right answer." Creating a family today is as complex as creating a peaceful pace that allows all involved to arrive at the end of the day satisfied, developing the right degree of autonomy and interaction, and avoiding states of excessive fatigue or stress.
There are many tasks and daily activities to deal with, living a constant overlap of private and work life, and drawing the boundaries can become very difficult. One can face great difficulty in creating the lifestyle one wants to be by one's children's side in the best possible way, and the support of a Professional Organizer can make all the difference.
The good news is that organization can be a very useful tool for dealing with the daily challenges we face. One can learn how to develop one's organizational skills, just by arming oneself with motivation, patience and a little discipline to achieve, in small steps, big goals and a more peaceful lifestyle.
As I flank the caller
The first step is listening, to understand where and how to set changes in motion. I suggest tools, strategies, and methods to cultivate personal organizational skills, to acquire versatile and pliant behaviors, to cope effectively with the demands and challenges of daily life, and to initiate new habits and changes.
An external figure, such as the P.O., can facilitate communication, can locate the tangle more easily by not being personally involved, and what he or she proposes is always more readily accepted by the children and teens, coming to an empathetic relationship that results in operationalization and listening on their part.
Parents feel supported, receive attention they did not know before, and are ready for shared changes, always related to organizational skills that prove to be valuable support.
What are the possible activities that are addressed
When the door overlooking the life of a family is opened to me, there are various topics that can be addressed and they are related to the history of those people, their life experiences and needs. Some of the topics that can be touched upon follow:
- Evaluating the use and functions of common spaces or children and youth
- Decluttering and eliminating the superfluous
- Family or individual planning
- Customized organizational solutions
- Household management
- Organizing with children and youth
- Choosing organizational supports
- Setting new organizational habits
- Facilitating communication among the various members of the household,
through shared tools and strategies
- Economic management

The intervention of a P.O. leads to the development of...
The results achieved through years of field experience tell that we are on the right track. The parents I have supported over time have truly benefited from the work accomplished, changing their habits for the achievement of greater serenity, more efficient days, while also facilitating interpersonal relationships.Making good use of organizational strategies and tools leads to the development of basic coping skills for everyday life, the same skills that WHO indicates (World Health Organization) with the term Life Skills, pointing to them as the fundamental core of a person's physical and mental well-being, enabling healthy growth on both the individual and social levels, such as self-awareness, emotion management, development of effective relationships and critical thinking, just some of the topics mentioned in which P.O.'s work is largely reflected.
Experiencing the joys or difficulties of parenthood is part of the human quest, each of us has firsthand experience without ever having been given the instruction booklet, each child is different, and all stories have their own value. Being by your side is a job dictated by passion.
"The most important thing parents
can teach their children
is how to get by without them."
