Close house for the vacations
8 July 2019Why be organized?
21 July 2019
Every school year, at any level, is a journey that has a beginning and an end, a life and growth experience in which one not only learns educationally but also refines one's life skills. As professional organizers we turn our attention to the development of organizational skills, which we believe are among the most important soft skills for coping with school, personal and daily life.
The end of the school year thus becomes, a valuable opportunity to cultivate your children's organizational skills, whatever age they may be, and give birth to good habits. It is an opportunity to pass on to them, respect for books and school materials, do space clearing, that is, getting rid of the superfluous by giving a second life to what is not indispensable and renew the spaces dedicated to study. It takes stock at the conclusion of a course so as to better organize for the start of the next school year.
Books, how to give them a second life? School books and beyond can be an overloading problem; doing a proper sorting regularly helps keep spaces lighter, retaining only those that are most valuable or have an important function. After sorting together with your children which books to keep and which to give away, you can choose various solutions to give them a second life. Sensitizing your children to care for the books they will use all year round will be a valuable lesson.
You can therefore decide to donate or sell books, some sites follow, but by browsing online you can also find neighborhood associations close to your home.
- To donate your books https://www.oggicambiolibro.it/enti-benefici.htmlSuthis site are indicated, schools, libraries, prisons and associations, throughout Italy, united by an equal ideal, to give books a second life, making them available to those who need them most.
- To sell your books online https://www.libroscambio.it/
A site dedicated only to the online sale of school and/or college books.
School materials. Too often we tend to buy back rulers, squares, compasses, markers, pencils and more, simply because we do not take proper care of these items when the school year ends. They are valuable tools for educational learning from year to year, taking good care of them not only saves money but also allows you to have the "equipment" you need when the time comes.
The closing of the school year, therefore, will be an opportunity to sensitize children and young people to do the proper sorting of these materials, developing a sense of "maintenance and care" of what they already own.
Notebooks. With the younger ones, it can be a nice idea to select a few notebooks with the first "little thoughts," with the older ones, the most meaningful themes, and then have them bound and thus become a memory book. In my bookshelf I have the book that my mother made with my best themes during elementary school, and I happen to go flipping through those pages with pleasure that tell about me, precious memories. Thus, starting from organization, one can also convey the value of remembrance, of how to carefully choose the objects with which to face the "journey" of life, those that give us meaningful emotions.
After space clearing you can reorganize... once you have eliminated the superfluous, having given a second life to books and objects that you no longer consider useful you can move on to managing the spaces dedicated to study, such as the bookcase and the desk with dedicated drawers and compartments.
Check that the bookcase is well organized, that the spaces reserved for school books follow a good classification perhaps using special labels (books, notebooks and binders well divided) so that at the appropriate time you can quickly locate what you are looking for. The same should be done for the desk and its drawers.
In September everyone will experience the benefit of having taken the right steps at the end of the previous school cycle making it easier to start the new year! Good organization helps make everything easier and more enjoyable!
