Home working, how to organize?
28 April 2019The digital revolution has overwhelmed us. Are you aware of how constant interruptions waste your valuable time?
When are you most effective?
In my opinion, we must learn to live the digital world in a new balance, learning to defend ourselves from the constant interruptions that have literally run over our lives!
Suffice it to say that interruptions consume 28% of the typical worker's day and as a result our ability to concentrate comes to ONLY 8 seconds, which is less than that of a goldfish!
The culprits:
Smartphones, tablets, computers and of course the beloved social media that at all times of the day and in all places bombard us with information, making us jump from ball to ball without actually making us focus.
We run for cover... we learn to defend ourselves and regain a healthier rhythm of life, allowing our minds to navigate lighter.
I suggest a few but good rules:
The first step is awareness
... Are you aware of how much time you spend using devices? I recommend downloading an app to help you measure how much time you spend with your phone in your hand: Moment for Apple and QualityTime for Android
Isolating yourself seems like an obvious solution, but the real challenge is getting it done.
You can do this for short periods, but that will certainly be more productive. Turn off all notifications; it will be much easier to regain focus. (Silent cell phone, close your inbox or instant messaging program)
Use a timer to scan your time to devote to one activity.
Earplugs are a great help in isolating oneself.
Finally learn about your physiological peaks of effectiveness.
The time when you are most productive
