Interruptions, how much time do they waste on us?

The command center: autonomy in the family
13 May 2019Home working is an enterprise.
Physical and mental organization are basic for everyone, but especially if you work at home!
When you choose home working, that is, having your office in your home, it is inevitable that your private life will easily overlap with your work life and vice versa. Therefore, it will be even more important to follow valuable rules that will help us find the right work-life balance, which will keep stress away by living more serenely.
We are forced to build a kind of "path" of good habits, flexibility, tools and strategies to achieve an optimal quality of life.
In addition, today the growth of smart working is forcing many to face this new reality in step with the times.
Too much freedom does not help to keep the right course, if we have to face a sea crossing, it would never occur to us to leave without being well equipped... in the same way working at home "forces" us to equip ourselves as best we can, to keep the right course, reach the destination on the set date, be able to enjoy the right breaks but also be able to cope with the unexpected gale!
The first step: create a healthy balance between space and time.
Create a workstation where you work, it does not matter if it is small, but it must be dedicated!
What does your work space look like?
Awareness first, the first question to ask yourself...can I improve my work space?
Spend some time on this analysis, write down, anything that you would like to change or that does not satisfy you or simply does not work as it should.
Dedicating acorner of the house to work is basic, it is not enough to use the dining or kitchen table, just because the laptop is the key tool for being operational. It is important to bring to life an area of the home that reminds us that we are moving into the full-fledged work phase. Small spaces do not even have to intimidate us because you can create beautiful workstations even in very small houses by achieving the desired functionality and you can optimize the most unthinkable spaces.
Work space is sacred, communicate it....
To anyone who shares the house with you, and especially if you have children it is important to make them participate, make them understand the value of the space you have
dedicated to work, help them understand that even if you work from home you WORK and that when they see you sitting at that given chair you should not disturb them.
Attention I'm working
To make sure you are not disturbed put a sign on the door or a green or red light, This can also be done with your children, it will help them understand the work schedule well.
Make use of good tools: calendar and lists in order to plan.
The use of calendars and diaries helps to give a time structure and try to plan future events and commitments; it is a key guide.
I much prefer the digital calendar, which allows you to manage different calendars from each other, such as family or work calendars.
