27 January 2020The calendar characterizes the beginning of the new year, which is like the departure for a new journey, and when preparing for a new journey, one also chooses the tools with which to leave.
What are the tools?
Two basic tools cannot be missing for my journey:
1.A calendar
2. Lists (making proper use of them).
Today let's talk about the calendar and I will devote another tutorial to lists!
The Calendar:
It is the basic tool for us to be able to bring our journey to life; it helps us from day to day, week to week and month to month to build our yearly path, highlighting the stages of our journey.
But remember.
- The calendar should be used ONLY for tasks related to a time deadline, for example: appointments, dead-lines, bills due, birthdays.
- We need to be able to refer to it easily and all the time, in my case I prefer the digital calendar (found on computers as well as smartphones). But a good Professional Organizer must be able to respect the different needs/habits of those in front of him/her, so for some thepaper calendar may be preferable! One thing is for sure if you have calendar sharing needs with co-workers at work or even family members (I, for example, share my son's basketball league with dad) I suggest the digital calendar!
The calendar gives you a "clear view of your time,"
i.e., once you have entered appointments, you will also be able to estimate how much "free" time you have left and can figure out how best to use it. Like the game of Tetris, the "space/time" you will have free, you will be able to fill it with the most suitable brick. Each brick will be your activity, and each activity needs a given amount of time to be developed.
Tetris means...
With experience you will get better and better (like a workout) at figuring out how much time you take to do that activity and consequently where to fit it into the spaces of your time. And that's when Tetris will be successful and above all stress-free.
